Artist Room: Zombies by Hamed AlHarthy

Artist Room: Zombies by Hamed AlHarthy

About Makan Studios' Artist Rooms:

A series of experimental gallery shows designed to foster growth while highlighting each artist's unique voice. Each exhibition invites artists to engage with a central theme, encouraging them to push boundaries, explore new mediums, and interact with one another’s practices. The shows are set in an immersive environment, blurring the lines between viewer and participant.

Zombies is a body of work that captures the mundane reality of a predictable life, checking all the boxes in a predeterminded order. It questions existence, life goals and meaning.

The scope of the works includes digital painting, fabric sculptures and art installations accompanied by audiovisual pieces.

About the artist:

Hamed AlHarthy is a self-taught Omani artist whose journey in digital art reflects both personal introspection and the nuanced experiences of the present middle-class Omani life. His preferred medium allows for accessibility and creativity, making it a natural choice for his very own artistic expression.

Drawing inspiration from deep inner reflections, Hamed explores themes that resonate with the contemporary Omani experience, infusing his work with layers of meaning and emotion. He has actively engaged with both local and regional communities, showcasing his art at notable venues such as Makan Studios. Recently, he made waves at the Abolish 153 art exhibition in Kuwait, further solidifying his presence in the regional art scene.

Hamed aspires for his creations to leave an indelible mark on those who encounter them, inviting each viewer to reflect on their own unique interpretation and connection to his work. Through his artistry, he seeks to bridge personal and collective narratives, enriching the cultural dialogue within and beyond Oman.
